Tucked among towering hardwoods and the Waccamaw River, this golf course features extensive mounding, gwide landing areas, and lush bermuda greens. With 27 holes there is always a chance for an "extra" 9 that will extend your enjoyment.

Barefoot Resort, Love

Barefoot Love Golf CourseDavis Love III was the least renowned of the four architects that designed courses at Barefoot Resort, one of the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area’s flagship properties, but 13 years later his design is arguably the most popular of the quartet. The layout, which pays homage, to Love’s Carolina roots, is fun to play. Many Top 100 courses are known for their difficulty, but Love managed to perfectly thread the needle, crafting a design that challenges low handicappers while allowing, ahem, less skilled players to enjoy an elite course. On top of that, the memories of the faux ruins of an old plantation home will be with you long after your vacation ends.

Farmstead Golf Club

Farmstead Golf LinksFarmstead Golf Links is truly a cut above the typical Grand Strand course. Considering the extraordinary golf experience it offers to players of all levels, this is arguably the best deal in town. Nestled in a natural setting while comfortably removed from developed areas, the course affords golfers the luxury of playing in almost perfect privacy. Set on a level stretch of land that was once a tobacco farm, its windswept 480 acres have been fashioned into a spectacular set of challenges by designer Willard Byrd.

Wide, links-style fairways gently follow the lay of the land to create a collection of shot-making opportunities that reward superior play from golfers of many styles. Whether the flags are noisily flapping or eerily still, hitting it straight is the key to scoring well at Farmstead. Myrtle Beach National, Kings North

Myrtle Beach National Kings NorthOne of three premier layouts at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club, King’s North is an Arnold Palmer-designed gem offering several of the Grand Strand’s most memorable holes.

Redesigned by “The King” in 1996, King's North made its way onto Golf Digest's prestigious list of "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses - 2004" and Golf Digest's "Places to Play" has awarded it 4.5 STARS ever since. Plus, from 2000-2004 Golf for Women ranked it their "Top 100 Courses in America.”

King’s North features 18 of the most dramatic and picturesque holes you’ll ever encounter. The par-5 6th hole (nicknamed “The Gambler”) features an island fairway that offers a “risk-reward” shortcut to the green. If the island fairway is chosen it could leave a good chance at going for this green in two, thus the “Gamble.” However, a safe layup to the right and a short approach over water will always keep you guessing. The par-3, island green 12th hole creates a challenge of its own. A miss to the right and you could find the water, miss left and you could find the distinctive “SC” bunkers that would leave a delicate bunker shot. And don’t forget the par-4 finishing hole at 18, featuring an array of 40 bunkers escorting you to an exciting finish of an exhilarating round.

Myrtlewood Golf Club, Palmetto

Myrtlewood PalmettoDesigned by legendary golf course architect Edmund B. Ault, Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club has been a consistent favorite of Grand Strand golfers for nearly two generations, earning continuous rankings as one of the top repeat-play courses in Myrtle Beach. This highly popular course maintains optimal playing conditions throughout the year and is always ready to offer a challenge to golfers of all skill levels.

Palmetto’s traditional design offers accommodating Bermuda fairways that slope gently through old growth pines. Stretching out along the Intracoastal Waterway, the course serves up a variety of hazards and bunkers to test your shot-making abilities as you play your way onto the large, subtly undulating Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Palmetto expresses the simple, traditional aesthetic of a classic Ault design. Open fairways offer plenty of legitimate landing areas, but the par 4s are more challenging than they appear and the high bunker population ensures you’ll get in work on your sand game. Throughout your round, you’ll find plenty of solid character and the welcome surprise of a few wild thrills.

Myrtlewood Pine HillsNot only has PineHills at Myrtlewood been singled out by Golf Digest as one of the "Top Ten Courses" in Myrtle Beach, it also bears the distinction of being the first and only Grand Strand golf course designed by award-winning architect Arthur Hills. Its unique blend of superior Bermuda fairways and Penncross bent Tifdwarf Bermuda grass greens is immaculately maintained to provide a perfect playing surface that includes traditional architectural elements, rolling fairways, undulating greens, ubiquitous water hazards and subtle elevation changes. From the back tees, low handicappers will find a challenge to their decision making more than their distance, while from the forward markers, weekend or vacationing golfers will enjoy a round that asks for – and rewards – a properly planned, well hit shot.
