A field of 3,100 golfers from 25 countries and 49 states teed off this morning at the 29th annual Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship.
Included among this year’s participants are Major League Baseball legend Roger Clemens, back for his second attempt at earning the World Am title, and for the first time ever, eight golfers from China.
No matter where you are from or your level of fame, everyone’s objective is the same: to win their flight and the World Championship playoff. The World Am is a 72-hole net stroke play event that places golfers in tightly grouped flights based on age, gender and handicap.
After four rounds of competition, all flight winners and ties will advance to the World Championship Playoff at TPC Myrtle Beach.
Golfers will complete their day with a trip to the World’s Largest 19th Hole, the event’s nightly party at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Tilted Kilt will be serving everyone dinner Monday and golf comedian TP Mulrooney will be performing a stand-up act.
