Big Break Winner Mark Silvers to Appear at 19th Hole

The newest addition to the entertainment lineup at the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship will be a familiar one to fans of the hit Golf Channel show Big Break.

On Wednesday night, Big Break Greenbrier winner Mark Silvers will be a special guest at the World’s Largest 19th Hole. Silvers will appear onstage, providing a behind the scenes account of life on the show and talking about trying to secure a PGA Tour card.

A native of Savannah, Ga., Silvers won Big Break in 2012 and has played six events on the Web.com Tour this year. The University of South Carolina graduate competed in the 2010 U.S. Open and won 15 times in 2011 on various mini-tours, including the NGA Pro Tour.

He has played in two PGA Tour events in 2013, missing the cut at the Greenbrier Classic and the Sanderson Farm Championship.

Silvers battled back from a significant deficit to win the Big Break in dramatic fashion, earning fans along the way. After dedicating his time on the show to his father, who passed away just prior to filming, Silvers rallied by going 5-under on the final five holes to defeat James Lepp 1-up to win the crown.

His triumph was the most-watched and highest-rated finale of any Golf Channel original series in 2012, attracting 309,000 total viewers.
The 30th annual World Am, a 72-hole net stroke play event with more than 3,300 participants from 46 states and 27 countries,  will be played August 26-30 on more than 60 Myrtle Beach golf courses.

Silvers joins a host of big names that will be appearing at the World’s Largest 19th Hole, including Golf Magazine columnist Brandel Chamblee, Golf Channel star Charlie Rymer and comedian Henry Cho.

The 19th Hole consumes 120,000-square-feet of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and will feature 60 golf exhibitors, Demo Alley, games, live music and free food and drink.
