Free food, open bar, live music, games, instruction, exhibitors with cool new golf products and all the Friendly’s ice cream you can eat help make the World’s Largest 19th Hole the heartbeat of the World Am experience. The nightly party held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center enjoyed a resurgence in 2013, but, rest assured, we are not content with last year being “good enough.”
We have spent the months since the conclusion of our 30th anniversary event working to make sure the 19th Hole delivers an even better experience in 2014. As a result, you can expect to see a few adjustments to the floor plan, new activities and increased excitement for this year’s edition.
One thing we won’t be changing this year is our food serving setup. We’ll continue to have at least 10 serving stations and different menu themes each night. Based on our survey results, that was a combination that worked well for us and most importantly you last year. Comments from the player survey were overwhelmingly positive with regards to how the food was served and what the restaurants were putting on the plates. Here are a few representative comments from the survey:
“I liked the food choices. There was a little bit of everything to choose from and it was all excellent. Of course, I love the music in the ballroom and the comic was terrific. I thought all the speakers were excellent.”
“The number and location of food booths was much better. Access to them was much better than previous years. The food choices were far superior than the last 5 years.”
The main hall will still be filled with activities including multiple simulators, the Par 3 Challenge and the Long Putt. Golden Tee machines, pool tables, dart boards and other games will be available as well.
The dance floor will be packed again, and we have already secured four great bands to play in the ballroom. Those will be announced soon along with some big names from the world of golf that will be a part of the World Am this year.

Although the competition over four days of great Myrtle Beach golf is what makes the World Amateur Handicap Championship the greatest golf tournament in the world, the 19th Hole is a vital part of the experience. No matter how much we love the game of golf and a little competition, it is nice to unwind with friends, eat and drink a little, have some fun and let loose.
As we move forward into our 31st year of hosting the World Am, we feel as strongly as ever that the 19th Hole will be a party you won’t want to miss.
