Trip of a Lifetime Recap

John Wolf wasn’t at the World’s Largest 19th Hole on the final night of the 2018 World Am, but he called a buddy to congratulate him for winning his flight later that evening. The response Wolf received shocked him.

“He said, ‘Don’t congratulate me, you won the grand prize at the convention center,’” Wolf recalled. “I thought he was kidding.”

Wolf called World Am tournament director Scott Tomasello to confirm his good fortune but remained skeptical until an email arrived congratulating the native West Virginian on winning the “Myrtle Beach Golf Trip of a Lifetime” annually given out at the 19th Hole on Thursday evening.

Wolf won a 7-night, 6-round trip to Myrtle Beach that allowed him to play any World Am host course.

Oh, he also got to bring three friends, airfare was covered, a PGA Tour Superstore gift card was included, and they received free dinner at Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse one evening.

Wolf, who also plays in the March Championship and Fall Classic, enjoyed his trip of a lifetime in early March, and his course lineup was the envy of anyone taking a trip this spring. How does this look as a possible itinerary for your next trip?

March 3 – Tidewater Golf Club
March 4 – Pawleys Plantation
March 5 – Caledonia
March 6 – Dye Course at Barefoot Resort
March 7 – True Blue
March 8 – Prestwick

Wolf took three friends from West Virginia with him, introducing them to the best of the Myrtle Beach golf scene, they rode the golf boards at True Blue, and gorged themselves at Rioz.

“It really was the trip of a lifetime,” Wolf said. “I hope to win again. I was lucky they pulled my name the first time.”

The odds are stacked against Wolf winning again, but he plans to give himself every chance.

As he nears his 10th appearance in the World Am, Wolf sees no end to his participation in sight.

“I will play in it until I die,” he said.
