World’s Largest Golf Tournament In Search Of Alaskan Players

3,200-Person Event Has Players From 49 States And Wants To Make It 50!

The PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap, the largest single-site golf tournament in the world, attracts 3,200+ players from across the globe. Golfers from 49 states and more than 20 countries make the annual pilgrimage to Myrtle Beach to participate in the 72-hole net stroke play event.

But as the World Am, which is open to men and women of all skill levels, looks ahead to the 37th playing of the event, there is one state that has failed to produce a player in recent years – Alaska.

“We understand the trip from Alaska to Myrtle Beach is a long one, but the World Am is more than worth effort,” said Scott Tomasello, who runs the tournament. “If golfers from South Africa, Japan and India, among other nations, can annually play in the event, we believe least one Alaskan can join the party in 2020.”

To help ensure a golfer from the “Land of the Midnight Sun” competes in the 37th annual World Am, which will be played Aug. 31 – Sept. 4, the tournament has created “The Last Frontier” sweepstakes. The contest will be accepting entries through February 23 and will provide one Alaska golfer with an expenses paid trip to the 2020 tournament.

The World Am, featuring an entry fee valued at $655, is open to all men and women with a verifiable USGA handicap.
