Great Weather, Brandel Chamblee Expected to Highlight Day 2

As the sun rises this Tuesday morning, great weather and some of the area’s best courses await the second round of the Golf.com World Am.

But before we look ahead, let’s take a quick look back at some of the media coverage the tournament has received.

• Alan Blondin of the Sun News penned an excellent profile on Bob Yelton, one of our 30-year players who has overcome more than his share of adversity to keep his tournament streak alive.

• The World Am has enjoyed another 8 percent increase in participants.

• WPDE, our local ABC affiliate, filed a report on the event’s impact on the area and potential for growth going forward.

But enough with what has happened, let’s talk about what you can expect tonight at the 19th Hole. In addition to the nightly closest to the pin contest on our 50-yard “island green” and the long putt contest, both of which could net someone $25,000, Calvin Taylor will provide live music in the ballroom.

A member of the Original Drifters, Taylor has played with BB King, Maurice Williams, Junior Walker and opened for national artists like Joe Cocker, B. B. King, Eddie Right and many more.  He has also worked with former lead singer of the Temptations, Dennis Edwards.

The festivities at the 19th Hole will be highlighted by an appearance by Brandel Chamblee, a Golf Magazine columnist and a star on the Golf Channel. Chamblee is one of the game’s rising personalities, providing the perspective of a former PGA Tour winner who has a sharp intellect and strong opinions.

Certified golf fitness instructor Marty Weil and PGA Tour pro Hugh Royer will also appear onstage.

Best of luck to everyone in round two, and we will see you at the 19th Hole.
