The start of the 2013 Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship is less than 24 hours away, and the eve of the tournament brings what should be a great day.
For those of you planning to get in a practice round, the weather is as mild as it will ever be in South Carolina in August – temperatures in the low 60s with no humidity this morning – and a full day of activities awaits everyone.
Registration at both PGA Tour Superstores resumes this morning at 9 a.m. and will run until 5 p.m. There is an assortment of unofficial events today, including the International Tournament at Myrtlewood, skins games up and down the beach, and the “No Baggers” convening for a practice round.
The highlight of the day will be our kickoff party from 5 to 7 p.m. at Broadway at the Beach. Crocodile Rocks and Revolutions will be hosting tournament players and their guests (don’t forget to wear your badges), providing live entertainment throughout the evening.
Crocodile Rocks, featuring dueling pianos, is always festive, there will be a DJ at Revolutions, and a jazz band playing in the middle of Celebrity Square. It should be a great start to the week.
Both bars will be running drink specials – $3 for house liquor, wine and 16 ounce draft beers – and Goslings will be handing out Dark ‘n Stormy samples.
The Kickoff party will be highlighted by the giveaway of two free entries into the 2014 World Am, two World Am logoed golf bags, and a pair of SkyCaddie GPS watches.
It should be a great evening, but don’t stay out to late because tournament time is upon us!
