2015 World Am Host Courses

Sure, 72 holes of tournament golf and the World’s Largest 19th Hole are reason enough to attend the World Amateur Handicap Championship, but the opportunity to play some of the best golf courses in Myrtle Beach and all of America is an equally powerful incentive.

The course lineup for the 2015 tournament is set, and it reads like a who’s who of Myrtle Beach golf. Fifty-five golf courses will be hosting the event, and 40 of them have earned at least 4 stars in Golf Digest’s prestigious “Best Places to Play” guide. For reference, 4 stars means “plan your next vacation” around the course.

Even more impressive, 10 of the 55 layouts have been ranked among America’s top 100 public courses by either Golf Magazine and Golf Digest in recent years. The top 100 courses hosting the event are:

Barefoot Fazio, Barefoot Love, Caledonia, Grande Dunes, Heritage, Rivers Edge, Tidewater, Tiger’s Eye, TPC Myrtle Beach and True Blue.

The 32nd annual World Am will be played August 31 through September 4, and the early entry registration fee of $475 runs through May 15.

“The quality of golf we are able to offer participants is one of the event’s primary draws,” said Jeff Monday, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s tournament director. “The support of the Myrtle Beach golf community is a large part of what makes the World Am so popular, and you see the level of that support in the quality of courses that welcome tournament players.”

A 72-hole, net stroke play event, the World Am is expected to attract 3,500 players from all 50 states and more than 30 countries. Golf’s most respected and rigorously enforced handicap system levels the playing field, giving all players a chance to win.

Players are flighted based on gender, age and handicap.

After four rounds of competition, all flight winners and ties will advance to the World Championship Playoff.

The fun of the World Am doesn’t end with the final putt. Each night participants and a guest gather at the World’s Largest 19th Hole, which encompasses 120,000 square feet of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, for free food and drinks, live entertainment and an expansive golf expo.
