The Myrtle Beach World Am brings in golfers of every type, from the Just for Fun Division participants all the way to the plus handicap Gross Division competitors. Each year the World Am builds a stage for you, no matter what type of golfer you are, to compete and be a part of a golf experience unlike any other.
The Gross Divisions and the Senior Gross Division have become staples of the World Am event, and after many requests from competitors we are making MORE divisions to suit every golfer out there.
In 2021 the World Am will offer a total of FOUR Gross Divisions across the field: Women’s Gross (new), Men’s Gross, Men’s Senior Gross (50+), and Men’s Mid Senior Gross (60+, new).
All-new in 2021, the Women’s Gross Division, and the Men’s Mid Senior Gross (60+) are set to offer a wider range of “scratch” competition to World Am participants across the board. The Gross Divisions will offer the same level of stroke play competition and experience to its participants, without the handicap factored in. Gross competitors will hit the links, vying for the Division titles with just their clubs and their game. Four rounds of gross competition will test even the most grizzled tournament golf veterans, a truly tour-like tournament experience.
All divisions scores will be submitted for WAGR points consideration. Gross Divisions are subject to participation. Tournament staff have secured exemptions for winners of each of these divisions into a high level Amateur competitions at the Dixie Amateur & the South Carolina Women’s Open (Amateur Division).
Exemptions will be granted to each Gross Division Champion in their respective division:
2021 World Am Men’s Gross Champion – 2021 Dixie Amateur Exemption
2021 World Am Senior Men’s Gross Champion – 2021 Dixie Amateur Exemption
2021 World Am Mid-Senior Men’s Gross Champion – 2021 Dixie Amateur Exemption
2021 World Am Women’s Gross Champion – 2022 South Carolina Women’s Open (Amateur Division)
The winner of each gross division will be invited to enjoy Friday’s Championship round, hosted by a brand new facility in the Grand Strand, having been formerly named “National Golf Course of the Year” by the National Golf Course Owners Association. More on that to come!
If any gross division remains tied for first place after four rounds, these players will be invited to compete in an 18-hole playoff during Friday’s Championship round “US Open-style”!
But that’s not all! You asked and we listened. The women’s division will now be separated into two age brackets, Women 59&Under, and Senior Women (60+).
We’re excited to welcome these THREE new divisions to encourage players of all ages and abilities to join the greatest and most unique golf tournament on the planet.
