By Rick Limpert for WorldAmGolf.com
The 2014 edition of the World Am features players from 34 countries.
They come to play Myrtle Beach’s best courses, they come to meet new friends and see old acquaintances, but most of all, they come to have fun.
Gustavo Garcia of Guatemala comes for all of the above, but also because he loves golf and since he took it up a little over a year ago, he’s here for the World Am and having a blast.
We caught up with Garcia at the 19th Hole as he was hanging out with friends and posing for pictures.
Gustavo A. Garcia
Hometown: Guatemala City, Guatemala
Occupation: Owns mobile phone stores
Experience: First year
Handicap: 20
What was your course today?
Azalea Sands. It was very nice. I shot a 94 and liked the course for my first time.
Your overall experience?
I’m getting better; this is my first tournament. I was a bit nervous.
How were your playing partners?
They were all nice guys. This is my first time in Myrtle Beach and I love it. I travel to the U.S. two or three times a year to other places.
What do you expect for the rest of the week?
Just to have fun and enjoy my time here. This is golf and fun for me.
